Just Married
"Just Married" is a ceramic sculpture by Louise Hapton.
The artist decided to make this sculpture after being inspired by her own past relationships and marriage ideations from when she met her first real love. She loved this boy so much she would’ve married him on the spot if she could’ve. Their breakup inspired the performance "Louise and Art’s Wedding", which you can see on Instagram (@louise_hapton).
Indeed, she was idealizing the relationship and the idea of marriage. She understood it was a mistake when she opened her eyes and saw how her own friends and family acted daily when they were couples (or even married couples). After a year of dates that didn’t go anywhere, she is finally ready to accept that no one will ever treat her better as a partner than her own art.
Louise and Art are dedicated to each other and mourn the idea of the married human couple which, in the end, kinda looks like a cake infested with flies.
