It was the last straw, Berry
"It was the last straw, Berry" is an original ceramic sculpture by Louise Hapton.
Representing ideas of disgust and strangeness around food, the piece explores two massive thematics in Louise Hapton's work: delusions and eating disorders. Indeed, this strawberry was represented using memories of the artist's hallucinations. The smell of rotten flesh. Eyes bulging out of food. And, of course, the terrible fear that it was poison AND that it would, on top of that, make her fat.
After years of battling with delusions and eating disorders, Louise has now finally recovered. It is thanks to art that she found the strength to explore her mind to fight the demons it had hosted.
