Granny's Pear

"Granny's Pear" is an original ceramic sculpture by Louise Hapton.
 
What inspired this sculpture to the artist was the complex relationship between her mother and her grandmother. While visiting her granny for the first time in years, Louise felt a wide array of negative emotions - especially during lunch times, when her grandma would force her to have a pear for dessert. She would peel the fruit with a butter knife in the kitchen while cussing at Louise's mum (who wasn't there to defend herself). Maman has always loved her mum, but Mamie never showed any love to Maman. The only transmission she passed on to her was the art of knitting: knitting and insulting her for being a "bad daughter".
